Lovecrumbs: Cakery extraordinaire

I may have a coffee addiction. No, I take that back. I think I have a coffee shop addiction. I love coffee shops. I love them with all my heart. I love the smells, the atmosphere, the busy baristas, the brewing equipment (of all shapes and sizes and methods), the small batch roasts, the pastries, tea selection, quaint and trendy interiors, the cups and furniture, and... I could go on forever. But what happens when you mix a coffee shop and a bakery?

BLOOF.

That's the cloud of powdery sugar dust that was my brain.

One of my favorite spots in Edinburgh is very near to the art college, and I like to stop in there when I'm feeling a little bit like... cake. When I want cake (or a tart, or brownies), Lovecrumbs is the place. Not to mention they serve tea in vintage teacups with mismatched saucers, the milk in a tiny glass bottle, and the hot water in a retro thermos! They what they're about.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

All photos are via Lovecrumb's enormously delicious Facebook page (because they are so much more amazing than what I would be able to come up with!). I strongly urge you to check them out, even if you're too far away to make it to the shop itself. At least now you know that if/when you get to Edinburgh, this is one of those places you shouldn't leave the city without stopping by.

They are open Monday-Saturday 10:30am-6pm, Sunday 12pm-6pm.

Do you have a favorite bakery and/or coffee shop where you live? Or one that you've visited on a trip that you totally loved? I'd love to hear -- I'm always up for recommendations!

Cheers!

  1. YUM! Looks delicious--I think I'm just a bit too far away, though. Rocket Baby Bakery in Wauwatosa is my favorite bakery.

  3. If you are able to visit Ireland during your stay abroad, I would highly recommend visiting the Aran Islands. There is a cute little cafe called: Teach Nan Phaidi. I had the most delicious Guinness chocolate cake there! http://bit.ly/1dJQMz8 The island is also very beautiful too. :)

    1. Thanks for the tip! I've always wanted to visit the Aran Islands. I did a road trip around western and southern Ireland about 8 years ago, but didn't get off the mainland. Ireland definitely calls my name.. again and again! And seriously, whoever decided Guinness and chocolate was a good combination... I love them more than is strictly rational. ;)

      Cheers!
